What's Going On?
A stage is a stage, Right?
by DPM on 12/12/11So I get a call from a friend of mine the other day that has this quaint little boutique in Thomasville, GA on Broad St. I know, that describes most of the stores on Broad St. but... I have never been approached to play in one of these stores before. I like to think of myself as an "outside of the box" type of thinker, but this venue seemed a little weird even to me,... at first. The more I thought about it and talked with the owners, the more I realized that this is a perfect venue for some of my more environmentally friendly/political soapbox songs. I am thankful to the owners for stepping out on a limb and giving me the option to play at their wonderful establishment. You never know who'll be listening and after all, ... A stage is a stage, Right?
And the Crowd Starts Singing...
by DPM on 12/08/11
I've always thought that must be the most exciting feeling. To stand on a stage, sing one of your own original songs, and hear thousands of crazy (and I mean that in a good way) fans singing your song back at you. Well last night, that finally happened to me. Well sort of....
I was playing my guitar on the couch in my living room and started to play "Matching Tattoos". My wife and oldest daughter started singing the song to me and all i had to do was play the guitar. How cool is that? I know it's not the thousands of screaming fans that we all dream of, but you have to start somewhere. And I can't think of anywhere better to start the craze than right in my own backyard.
Jingle Bells? Or something along those lines...
by DPM on 12/02/11
Hello all. I will be playing at the Moultrie, GA christmas parade downtown on the square tomorrow at 5pm. I'm only playing 2 songs. But there will be some students there also playing that a friend of mine has been teaching. Good times. Maybe I should be a student too. :-)
I was asked if I would be playing any Christmas Tunes. Unfortunately, I do not know any and do not have time to learn any before tomorrow (this was kind of last minute). So I will be playing a couple of songs off of my new album "Mione Road". Come out and enjoy, and bring the whole family. Fun for all ages. Jingle bells, shotgun shells, granny laid an egg.... There I did it. See ya soon.
Happy Thanksgiving
by DPM on 11/23/11
I'd like to wish everyone out there a very happy Thanksgiving. May your turkeys be stuffed and your dressing not too dry. I am going to spend some time with family and hang out with some friends that I haven't seen in a while. It should be a lot of fun. So too all, have a happy and safe Thanksgiving and we'll see you down the road.
Speaking of Thanksgiving, what is everyone out there thankful for? Let us know.
